KPCouturé is not just a fashion and accessories brand, it is a vehicle to stimulate conversation on sustainable fashion. We take waste plastic and textiles from Kinning Park Complex’s swap shop and community café and turn it into unique jewellery and clothes, with the added bonus of helping KPC become a zero waste organisation. We also hold free-to-attend community-based events and workshops with a focus on up-cycling or repairing garments which would normally end up in landfill.
KPCouture is made up of 4 individuals: participatory artist and facilitator Elena Mary Harris, communications and events Clare McIntyre, community development and plastics processing Jon Dawes and ethical fashion designer Carolyn Edmondson. KPCouturé was founded as part of Kinning Park Complex’s Climate Challenge Funded project ‘Waste Not Want’. When this project concluded in March 2018, the team decided to keep the brand going through community engagement.
